The Watcher

About the Author:
Lynn Jerdal

Lynn Jerdal's debut novel The Watcher was named as a finalist for the 2026 Claymore Award for Best Sci Fi / Fantasy.

An avid reader, she is captivated by the power of words to kindle compassion and provoke questions without easy answers.
Lynn has long been fascinated by stories of myth and fantasy that reflect the complex realities of our world.  She draws inspiration from the timeless echoes of fiction, the mysteries of theoretical physics, and the wild mountain landscapes of her Idaho childhood.

Researching the ancient esoteric text and exploring Byblos, Tyre, and the cedar forests of Lebanon compelled her to recount the untold perspective of the nameless woman who ignited the legend of the Watchers. The Watcher revives the apocryphal story, recasting it as a tale of love and reckoning rather than rebellion, and exploring themes of passion, hubris,  and redemption.
Lynn has called Annapolis, Maryland, home for nearly thirty years. She holds a B.A. in English and works as an editor for the General Assembly of Maryland, where she hones the language of policy with precision and technical clarity, a sharp contrast to the lyrical, mythic worlds she crafts in her fiction.

She is married to her first love and husband of several decades, with whom she shares five beloved children and two spirited Siberian huskies. When she is not reading or writing, you will find her tending her hobby vineyard, kayaking, completing word puzzles, or immersed in some sort of competitive play.
